THE AUTUMN BUDGET 2025 – HOW IT AFFECTS DRIVERS?
Novmber 2025
November has arrived with frost on the windscreens and the Chancellor’s Autumn Budget still ringing in everyone’s ears here at Lodge Automotive. We’ve had a steady stream of customers wanting to know what it all actually means for their car.
The headlines for motorists:
- Fuel duty remains frozen until April 2026 – good news for the many diesel vans and petrol SUVs we see in Liphook.
- Electric car owners will start paying Vehicle Excise Duty from April 2025 (£195 standard rate), and a new pay-per-mile system is coming in 2028.
- Company-car drivers keep the ultra-low Benefit-in-Kind rates until 2030.
- An extra £1.6 billion for pothole repairs nationwide.
For local businesses and commuters the frozen fuel duty is a genuine help, and the continued low BiK rates mean more of our customers are considering switching to hybrids or full electric without big tax penalties.
If the budget has made you rethink your next car, come and talk to us. We’re independent, so we’ll give you straight advice on whether to go petrol, hybrid or electric for the roads in the local area.
