Driving in the Extreme Heat

Driving in the Extreme Heat

Experts have warned that during the more frequently occurring extreme heat, vehicles are more likely to break down, putting added pressure on recovery services like the AA and RAC. The risk of a vehicle over-heating and running into problems is 15%-20% higher in extreme heat which can create an extra 1,000 breakdowns every day. As a result, the RAC have provided some guidance for motorists that still need to travel.

  1. The risk of breaking down in the heat is severe so it is advisable to have an emergency breakdown kit in your vehicle at all times.
  2. You can reduce the risk of breaking down by ensuring the oil and coolant levels are correct for your vehicle.
  3. You can further reduce the risk of problems by checking your tyres are not damaged or worn and that they are inflated to the right pressure.
At Lodge Automotive, we accept breakdown and recovery vehicles on a regular basis. Our goal is to ensure our customers are back on the road as quickly as possible. Ideally, we don’t want you to break down though. So, stay safe, follow the guidance and as always, please call if you need any help.
