Lower Speeding Threshold

Lower Speeding Threshold

At Lodge Automotive, we always stick to the speed limits but we know how easy it is to be distracted. You might be concentrating as there is a lot of traffic on the road or you have children in the car who are noisy and fighting. Whatever the reason, there are times when our speed can creep up. As a result, there has always been a speeding threshold that allows an extra 10% plus 3mph on top of the speed limit before you could be prosecuted for speeding. But, this has recently changed which has led to hundreds of thousands of more speeding convictions in the first half of this year alone. At Lodge Automotive, we want to make sure you are aware of the new thresholds so you don’t end up with a hefty fine and points on your license. The new speeding threshold is 10% plus 2mph meaning if you are driving on a 70mph road, you would be allowed to drive at a maximum speed of 79mph – rather than 80mph – before being convicted of speeding. Stay safe guys.
