Problems with E10 Petrol

E10 petrol first appeared at garage forecourts in September 2021. It was launched as a ‘greener’ and more ‘eco-friendly’ petrol that would help the UK reach their net-zero emissions target by 2050. However, there have been many complaints from unhappy motorists since its launch. The most frequently reported problem is with vehicle efficiency. Many motorists feel the increased ethanol in E10 petrol has led to a drop in mileage – they are using more fuel to travel the same distance, which doesn’t seem very eco-friendly. Another frequently reported problem is with vehicle performance issues that include their engine spluttering. Despite warnings that there may be performance issues and a significant number of complaints, the E10 petrol roll out continues.
